What is in my Rose VoxBox!

I was super excited to get the email that I was getting another VoxBox from Influenster. I got my first one the Cosmo VoxBox, about a year ago. Click here to see what was in the Cosmo VoxBox and here for my review on those products.

So when I came home Monday and saw this:

I may have done a little happy dance. Ok, I did.

This time I got the Rose VoxBox*. I was pleasantly surprised by the contents as I did not know exactly what was coming. As I did in my other VoxBox posts, this post will be about what is in the box and my first impressions on the products. Then I will follow up with a review post after I have had some time to use the products. Also I know all the items are not beauty related but to keep it simple I will keep the Rose VoxBox posts on this blog.

Here is what was in the Rose VoxBox:

  • belVita Crunchy Breakfast Biscuits.  These I eat all the time already. They are super yummy and very convenient for on the go breakfast/snack. I got the blueberry in the VoxBox one of my favorite flavors.
  • Dr. Scholl's For Her Cozy Cushions.  Looking forward to trying these out and seeing if I notice a difference in how my feet feel when using them.
  • Kiss Gradation Polishes. I think I am most excited about these polishes. I love the look that these polishes are supposed to give so I am really hoping it turns out how it is supposed to.
  • Rimmel London Scandaleyes Retro Glam Mascara.  This is probably the second thing I am most excited for. Mascara is one makeup item I will wear even on days when I don't wear much makeup. I am kinda picky about my mascara though so time will tell how this one is.
  • Lindt LINDOR Milk Choclate Truffles. These I have also had before. Love these chocolates. They only give you one small piece but they also include a coupon for $1 off a full sized bag. Excuse to go out and get a bag? Hmmm.

Don't forget to check back for my review post.

Review: Cosmo Vox Box

Back in December I was lucky enough to receive Influenster's Cosmo Vox Box*.  If you wanna read about my first impressions on the products you can check out my post here. After using the products (and eating) for awhile I thought I would give a review on them.

First up is Two FriXion by Pilot pens (one in black and one in purple)erased. I like these pens. It is great being able to erase if needed. The one thing I did find that I didn't like with these pens was that the ink smudged if you touched it before allowing it to dry.

Next is Forever Red Eau de Parfume by Bath and Body Works (Size .25 fl oz).  This scent is not bad. Will I be purchasing a full size? Most likely not.  Not because I didn't like the scent but because I have so many perfumes and body spays (many from B&BW). I do want to say that I am not really a fan of the packaging for the full size products.

Then we have The Gillette Venus Embrace razor and razor handle and also a Gillette Venus & Olay razor. I already use Gillette Venus razors (the original). I like the Venus Embrace razor, the only reason I buy the original over the Embrace is because it cheaper. The Venus & Olay razor I like for when you are traveling (no need to bring shave gel) but I  wouldn't use these everyday because I find that the moisture bars run out to fast and you end up needing shave gel anyway. Also they are kind of expensive for day to day use.

And finally we have Ghirardelli Gourmet Milk Sea Salt Escape. I already have had dark chocolate Ghirardelli Peppermint Bark and love it. I am more of a dark chocolate person but I still thought this bar was really yummy. I have to admit I ate the whole thing myself (I was going to share it with my bf but we kept forgetting to eat it when he was over). After eating it I did go out and try another one of their chocolate bars. And I will definitely will be getting more in the future.

I was very happy to be able to test out these products, thank you Influenster.

Till next time,

Amber

Review and Collection: Sinful Nail Polishes

Hello everyone! I have been talking about writing this blog post since the summer and I am finally doing it! Here is my review* and also collection of Sinful  Colors nail polishes. Over the summer I picked up and tried this brand for the first time. You can find these polishes at most drugstores and stores like Target and Walmart. I think they retail for around $1.99. I ended up really liking these polishes and I now have a collection of 8! I am sure it will grow in the future.

I like these polishes because:

  •  How affordable they are.  You can't beat $2 for a nail polish. I only have a few higher end polishes. Not only because I am on a limited budget but you can find some drugstore polishes that are just as great as the higher end ones and cost so much less.

  •  They apply very nice. I have never had any problems with applications. I  usually do two coats and I am good to go. I don't really know exactly how long it takes for them to dry since I usually give my nails extra time to dry because I get so annoyed  when I do my nails and then mess it up right away.

  •  They are long lasting. I do use a top coat over them as I do with all my polishes now. Over the summer I had two colors that I wore constantly and I could go days with little to no chipping especially if I kept my nails short as I usually do.

  • There is a wide variety of colors. Keep in mid though that some stores have more than others, like my Rite Aid carries more colors than my Target. So if you are looking for a particular color you may have to check out a few stores to find it.

My collection:

The colors I have are (starting at the top row left) 369 Ruby Ruby, 5162 Seaweed, 101 Snow Me white, 2 Black On Black, (second row bottom left) 921 All About You, 62 Purple Diamond, 947 Mint Apple, 952 Hazard.

Here are some of my past posts using Sinful Colors polishes:

and my latest nail post, the black polish I use under the glitter polish is a Sinful Colors nail polish:

A few of them I have yet to use.

In closing I will say that I definitely recommend these if your looking for a good inexpensive nail polish.

Till next time. :)

*This is not a sponsored  post. All opinions are my own. All the polishes were bought with my own money. :)

Book Review: The Hunger Games Trilogy

Read this book!

"May The Odds Be Ever In Your Favor"

Today I spent the afternoon finishing the last book in "The Hunger Games" trilogy Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins. Now I will admit I was late in reading this series. It wasn't until I read a article in a magazine about the movie, 2 weeks before the movie hit theaters that I decided I wanted to read the books.  And even though I had tried to read the whole first book before I saw the movie I wasn't able to finish it in time and ending up reading the last part of the book after seeing the movie in theaters. As it always happens when I see a movie and then read the book, while reading the books I saw the actors who played the characters in the movie in my head.

I am not sure why I didn't read this series earlier. From the first book to the last it kept my interest and kept me wanting to read more. Now I am really looking forward to seeing the movies that are based on the second and third books. I also want to buy the first movie to re-watch it and watch all the bonus features.

All three books have a ton of action in them. I am not going to go into detail about plot because most people pretty much know the plot(s) of at least the first book.If you have seen the movie and have not read the book(s) I suggest that you should read at least the first book (which will probably leave you wanting to read the next two, Catching Fire and Mockingjay, the movie for Catching Fire doesn't come out until November 2013). In my opinion books are usually always better than the movie, even if the movie is good, there are just so much more details you get in the book that you can never get in a movie. Which is true in this case. The movie was good and stayed as close as it could to the book, however with the book you just get all those details you can't get in the movie.

Since I read the the first and second book back in March/April and I just finished the last book today, I am going to talk a bit more about Mockingjay as it is fresh in my mind. The majority of the action takes place in the the last part of the book. That is the part that had me really hooked, the part I spent this afternoon reading. There is some action in the first two parts as well.

Small Spoilers ahead for those who have not read the book.

The author ties up most loose ends in this last book. The love triangle of Katniss, Gale and Peeta is resolved. You find out who lives and who dies (with the exception of Caesar Flickerman , I don't recall a mention of what happens to him). The one thing the author never clearly states  is who really was behind the bombings that happen at the very end of the book. She leaves it up to the readers to decided for themselves. I won't say anymore cause I do not want to give anything away if you have not read the book.

I also want to mention how I liked the scene at the end of Mockingjay between Katniss and Buttercup the  cat. I didn't expect it and thought it was touching. Of course I love cats so this scene would stick out for me.

What did you think of this series and/or the movie?

Till Next Time.  :)
